Jim Sanders discovered his love of and talent for art at an early age: as a fifth grader, he won an art competition sponsored by the Woodmen of the World. Throughout high school, he continued to develop his talent, eventually being recruited by East Carolina University, where he earned a degree in art. He has worked as an artist/illustrator/graphic designer ever since. He is a founding member of the Raleigh-Durham chapter of the Colored Pencils Society of America, colored pencils being one of his favorite mediums and the one used in most of the pieces of this collection. Sanders is the “artist in residence” for the Association of Oldetime Barbell & Strongmen (A.O.B.S.). After creating a likeness of the Association’s annual honorees, he presents the original to the individual at the annual banquet. Please click here to read Sanders’s artistic biography.
