Jack Berryman Collection

If you want to know how and when sports medicine became a specialty, you need only to read Jack Berryman’s work. Dr. Berryman has been documenting the history of sports medicine, physical activity and, somewhat surprisingly, fly fishing in the Pacific Northwest. He is an adjunct professor emeritus at the University of Washington’s School of Medicine; he is also the official historian for the American College of Sports Medicine. He has written several books and innumerable articles designed to help us connect the present with the past. Dr. Berryman’s extensive book collection has been cataloged into the UT Libraries system. We are actively seeking support to process his large archive of correspondence, research files, and media.
